Working With Us
We see every project as a collaboration between the Client and the Architect. The client brings the programmatic needs, desires and sensibilities that will drive and inform the project. The Architect brings experience, creativity, technical know how and an understanding of the bigger picture. Our project-centric methodology relies on open communication that shares input from all participants.
Starting the Process
Everyone has needs.
Your needs are motivating you to begin the process of building or renovating a desired space.
Our needs as designers, in order to provide you with the best possible service, are to fully understand your needs and project goals. The programatic needs of your daily routine are the primary driver of the design process, but there are also emotional ones, how you feel about your space, what is your connection to it, how do you want to feel when you inhabit the space and what does the space say about you.
Additionally, the nature of the existing structure and/or site must be considered. What kind of obstacles or opportunities will the site’s topography present and what kind of restrictions might the local Zoning Ordinance impose? Is the existing building’s layout and structure accommodating to alterations or to an addition?
Collecting and analyzing the answers to these types of questions should always be the first step in the design process and is known in the industry as pre-design.
